The kitchen is very well equipped with almost everything that you'll need to cook, and the supermarket is two minutes' walk away. The lounge / dining area is full of tables and chairs, and they have a wide selection of board and card games available, as well as a cosy TV lounge with comfy sofas and a big selection of DVDs to watch. My bed was very comfortable, with the mattress in good condition and the duvet just right. There is also a heat pump / air conditioner in the room which is almost completely silent, and of course a window for fresh air, too! And, the dorms have big lockers for big luggage, so the rooms can remain tidy. The pods have their own light (in addition to the room light), two power sockets for charging laptops, phones, cameras, etc., and a well-sized shelf for storing these devices along with clothes for easy dressing for your early morning adventure without waking up the others. They have really good bathrooms and showers and toilets, and these are well maintained, well cleaned, and well stocked with toilet paper, body soap, and even hand towels at the wash basins!

The women's dorm room was nice and had an ensuite bathroom with an excellent powerful shower, which was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. They had lots of activities for guests to do. The kitchen and dining area was big and well stocked. The atmosphere in the hostel was relaxed and friendly, and guests didn't make any noise after about 10pm as those who weren't sleeping would go out to the bars rather than stay in the hostel to party.

They also have parking, albeit it limited, and there is a direct access door to the parking as well. If I were to propose any improvements, it would be a couple of sharp knives in the kitchen to make slicing tomatoes etc. easier, and a faster WiFi in the rooms. It works well in the lounge, but it's a bit slow in the rooms. Overall, this hostel is VERY well recommended for anyone visiting Queenstown. All pod hostels (and the pod hotels in Japan) offer a cost effective accommodation solution that is cheaper than rooms but still offers privacy. That's the common factor. Tahuna Pod Hostel stands head-and-shoulders above the rest with THE most welcoming, friendly, kind staff and environment around. The staff, temp and permanent alike, are enthusiastically passionate about keeping a friendly and welcoming vibe which attracts good kind-hearted people of all demographics. I've traveled extensively and stayed in hostels on five of the six inhabited continents, and I assure you that Tahuna is right up there with the best globally, in their welcoming inclusive attitude and their excellent features. Perfectly located, barely three minutes from the town, but quietly away from the bustle. Also, just two minutes' walk from the bus stop, so getting to and from the airport is so incredibly easy! Also, the gondola station is only a few minutes' walk away, and the boat terminal for the various lake cruises is four to five minutes' walk away, same as the Queenstown Gardens!
