University Information, Campus and History (Sydney, New South Wales, Australia) The University of Sydney (Sydney University) was established in 1850, which makes it the oldest Australian university. It is also one of the largest universities in Australia with a student body of almost 50, 000 students. Back then, the university was still known as Sydney College. It officially became a university in 1850 through the efforts of William Wentworth. Seven years later, it received its Royal Charter from Queen Victoria, cementing its place in the United Kingdom's group of universities. In November 2005, the University of Sydney reaffirmed its place as one of the top Australian universities by receiving the most number of research grants from the government and private institutions. That same year, it ranked 38th in the list of the world's finest universities provided by The Times Higher Education Supplement. Inspired by Oxford University, the University of Sydney has continued its expansion by acquiring smaller learning institutions in Sydney.
Good evening everyone. This December I'll be living in Sydney for the following 6 months to do some research at the University of Sydney. As the title already says, I'm not originally from Australia and because of this, I really don't know where to look for some affordable rooms during my stay. I've already looked at the site of the University for accommodation at the campus, but the prices were a bit too high for my liking and I was wondering if it can be a bit cheaper. So, can you recommend any websites for me to look for a good, affordable room? My budget is 300$/week max. Thanks in advance:)

In his email exchanges with colleagues on his story about Mr Chau, Mr Garnaut had also written "I LOVE IT". Mr Garnaut denied acting deliberately to take joy out of hurting Mr Chau's reputation. "I've never taken any glee in hurting somebody's reputation, " he said. "I get no joy out of damaging somebody's reputation". Mr McClintock labelled the article "a massive beat up" and "Fairfax tabloid journalism at its worst" before withdrawing the latter statement. Media attention The defamation case drew media attention because Mr Chau is a prominent Chinese Australian property developer who has donated widely to political parties and universities.
