Just returned from spending 4 nights with Carol & Roy in their lovely house, yes house, and very much so. You feel that you are staying with friends lovely people that you almost forget that you have to pay for the privelige. The house is a slice of Olde England, creaky floorboards, and latch doors, but open your wardrobe and you will find fluffy bathrobes. The breakfasts are lovely, porridge from the Aga, with honey and cream, multi fresh fruit salad, toast with home made local honey, and a fried breakfast if required. Roy And Carol, are the perfect hosts. Carol in particular having a lovely sense of humour. We absolutely loved both our accomodation, and them. Will we return? What do you think?

Re: Accommodation for a family of 5 in Paris 16 years ago We stayed about 10 years ago in a one bedroom apartment at the then Orion, now Citadines, Aparthotel at 4 r des Innocents in the 1st, which was designed to sleep up to 5 people. Good location but it was not cheap for 3 adults. There was a discount if you stayed over 5 days. I could not find a current price online in a quick search just now but I think it might be around 240E a night. It is central but of course charmless. The one we had was set up to sleep 5 as follows: entry leads in one direction to the bathroom with shower and bath (only 3/4 length) and then straight ahead to the doors to the sitting room and bedroom. In the entry area to one side (entry is about 2. 5m by 2. 5m) is a very basic cooking area (tiny fridge, two cook tops and small microwave and sink. On the other side (shielded from view when the entry door is open) is a storage unit the length of the wall and about 1. 25m high with a single bunk on top, so only ok for an older child who can sleep through others going through the room to the bathroom - there is a ladder up the side.
Overall a brilliant first year experience and made such great friends both in and out of college. Rooms are big in block c but the kitchen isn't very nice. Worth it for the money though. Can request to be with your friends In 2nd or 3rd year which is nice. Also, could get a great view of heslington hall if you are lucky. Pretty Decent Accommodation, I got lucky with the size of my room and my flatmates. Signed up for economy/shared bathroom and was disappointed to see that a lot of my floormates got rooms much smaller than mines so it really is down to luck. The location, however, is great and I literally woke up 10 minutes before a lot of my lectures. Has a great social atmosphere with bonding over the shit state of a lot of the kitchen utilities. SOunds grim but it definitely won't be an experience you regret.
